Frugal is the new black. It’s hip to be frugal. Or should I say cool? Did you know the song Thrift Shop was the number one song on the Billboard Hot 100 for four weeks?
I think that says a lot about frugal making its way to the mainstream. So, today I’d like to share Money Infant’s 10 Ways to Embrace the Frugal Life. If you are already hard core frugal, you probably do many or most of these ten suggestions, but for those who are new to frugal, this is a great list to get you started. Now, for my favorite list item –
Make Use of Coupons – The average consumer saves 12% per year on groceries by using coupons. You don’t have to be average though. Taking as little as an hour per week can save you 25% off your grocery bills easily. You can save even more by finding a grocery store that doubles coupons and by searching for sales and discounts before buying pretty much any product or service. And don’t forget online sources for coupons.
By all measures, I am an amateur couponer, interesting to know the average savings is 12%. I bet the pros skew that number quite a bit.
